We take turns hosting our Founders' Day Luncheon, Celebration, and
Program with Zeta; and this year, we hosted and
they attended. Our day turned out great, but only
after several glitches! But you know teachers... we are a very flexible
and adaptable group of problem-solvers.
We WERE
planning to be at the Racine Zoo with their director Beth Heidorn as our speaker,
and with the theme of a tea party. Hence the teas, and teapots decorated as
zoo animals that you see in the pictures. BUT, a terrible wind storm
with pouring rain knocked out the power in many parts of Racine,
including the Zoo. So, at the very last minute, we had to change our
location. You can imagine the flurry of calls and texts! Needless to
say, Beth had her hands full caring for all the animals with
no power and very little help, so we could not have her as our
speaker today. She will have to come later in the year.
Amazingly, at the last minute, Anne was able to have her daughter-in-law, Judge Kristin Cafferty, come and
speak to us about the care and education of the children she sees in the
Juvenile and Family Courts here in Racine County.
Here we are, setting up.
Each table was lovely, thanks to the ADK Month Committee, Robin, Janis, Susan, and Lynn, and lots of helpers.

The catered luncheon was both beautiful and delicious.
With lots of desserts.
Our thought-provoking speaker, Anne's daughter-in-law, Judge Kristin Cafferty:
It was a very moving and inspirational talk after a delicious catered lunch. We raffled off the whimsical teapots and had a great time.
