On the four Thursdays preceding Mother's Day this year, our very clever Altruistic Committee thought of a way we could declutter our own costume jewelry, and also donate these items as a give-away at the Food Pantry. The clients could choose gift items for the special moms, grandmas, and mother-figures in their lives at no cost. Here is our first day, with Terri, Rebecca, and Lynn, who says "We spent a joy-filled two hours this afternoon at the Northside Food Pantry giving away jewelry that many of you donated. It was truly a gratifying experience."

We interacted with so many wonderful people. There was a
husband married to his wife for 17 years who was excited to surprise her
with two beautiful bracelets. There were a couple of young boys who
picked out something “beautiful” for their moms/grandmas. There were
women who walked up and down the length of the two tables deciding on
just "the right" two items to choose, when there were so many wonderful
pieces to choose from. There was the husband who said he was going back
home to pick up his wife, so she could choose what she wanted. There
was even a mid-twenties something young man who stopped by and scooped
up the red "m & m” earrings, wishing we had more colors. Everyone
who stopped at the food pantry for food, came back to select items from
our tables.
Even the few Easter items displayed were eagerly taken home. What a Success!!
