Creating the Mural at Racine Alternative Learning (RAL)

Our Jane spear-headed this project at our adopted school, Racine Alternative Learning (RAL). The mural will feature the students' vision. Here is Jane helping the students working on their concept ideas. They chose the theme "Racine as a Video Game."

A week later they are beginning to prepare the plywood sheets for painting. We are hoping, along with the staff, that they will be moved to a real school building sometime in the future. For that reason, putting the mural on plywood will allow it to be moved along with the programs if that comes to pass.

Continuing progress in the weeks that follow, here we are painting the sky

Terri took homework home! The students designed shapes and Terri and Hubby cut these wooden shapes with the jigsaw.

Completing the background..

And some of the components...

Previewing pieces on the background boards.  Almost ready to mount the mural on the wall. It's made to look like a video game.

Jane and Jeni spray the sealer.

It won't be long until the 18-foot mural will be hung up, and a picture of it will appear here.
